Installation & Maintenance Tips
Surface Flatness Check – Maximum allowable warpage: ≤ 0.05 mm. Resurface if necessary.
Use New Head Gasket & Bolts – Only install a multi-layer steel (MLS) head gasket. – Cylinder head bolts are torque-to-yield (TTY); never reuse.
Recommended Torque Sequence
Step 1: Tighten to 29 Nm
Step 2: Tighten to 78 Nm
Step 3: Loosen all bolts
Step 4: Retighten to 49 Nm
Step 5: Final torque with 90° + 90° turns
Cooling System Must Be Flushed – Overheating is the most common cause of head damage. Replace thermostat, inspect radiator, and ensure water pump is functional.
Check for Cracks and Pressure Test – Particularly in exhaust ports and water jackets.
Timing Belt Replacement Recommended – Replace belt and tensioner when replacing head to avoid future failure.
